Gail Earle moved to Charlotte at the age of 4, when her family transferred from Maryland to NC. One of the first places she started riding was located where Raintree Country Club is now located. She began teaching there as a requirement to help new kids that came to ride. She then taught at the original Cedar Hill Farm, owned by Nora Cook.
Gail actively showed throughout the years at local and "A" shows from Junior to Amateur, Green, Working Hunter and also showed in the Jumper Divisions for a while. She also Fox hunted for several years with Mecklenburg Hounds, Camden, Greensboro and Southern Pines.
Gail grew up in and belonged to the U.S. Pony Clubs and rode in many rallies (3 Day Eventing). She achieved a "B" rating, but aged out before achieving an "A" rating. She became more involved in teaching as the years went by. She went off to college at UNC Greensboro and graduated with a BFA in Art Education. She went to work in the corporate world for many years all the while continuing to ride and teach.
She moved to a couple other barns along the way, one being Chancelot Stables, before eventually moving back to Cedar Hill Farm teaching, showing, helping run the barn and stayed for another 18 years after the ownership change. Gail also started her own clipping and grooming business in 1992.
Gail has been riding for over 45 years and she has over 35 years of teaching experience. She has been teaching at HVS since 2007, helps with Summer Camp and is a very valuable part of the HVS staff.
